Liath Hollins

Liath (33) was born in Leeds into a musical family, and has
played many instruments over the years, including the piano
and oboe. She has had a lifelong fascination with the harp, though she came to playing the instrument relatively late.

After teaching herself for a short while, she studied with traditional harpist Jean Hudson in Derbyshire. She is now
an experienced professional harpist with a large client base.
She lives in the Nottingham area.

Sophie Hollins

Sophie (26) was born in Nottingham and currently lives in
Leeds.She began playing guitar at the age of 7, and had
lessons with Catherine Dickinson at the Spanish Guitar
Centre in Nottingham from the age of 11. She went on to
study music at the University of Leeds, and graduated
with a First Class Honours (BMus) in 2003.
Thoughout her studies Sophie has had lessons with many distinguished guitarists in England and The Netherlands,
including Nicola Hall, Graham Wade, Luigi Palumbo and
Louis Ignatius Gall. She then began teaching in The
Netherlands and more recently in Leeds.

Daniela Schwark

Daniela (25) was born in Apelern near Hannover (Northern
Germany). She started playing the guitar at the age of 12,
but discovered the classical guitar at the age of 19. In 2005
she completed her studies in Elementary Music Education
and began teaching groups of children aged 2-16 and adults.

She then furthered her studies on the guitar with Hans-Michael Koch in Hannover and also with Louis Ignatius Gall in The Netherlands. Daniela recently graduated in Classical Guitar
Teaching and Performance Studies from the Hochschule fuer
Musik und Theater (Hannover).


 



Sophie and Daniela met in 2004 and began performing
together
as the Soda Guitar Duo in 2006. Their first
concert together took place in Hannover in October
2006, and since then they have given
other concerts
in Berlin, Hannover, Leeds and Nottingham.

Jonny Flockton

Jonathan Flockton (32) was born in Leeds and studied at the
Leeds College of Music from which he gained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Jazz Studies (1997).

He was inspired to play the guitar in his late teens after hearing
the music of B.B.King and Jimi Hendrix. He soon became interested in playing classical guitar music and began lessons with Kevin Bolton at Wakefield Sixth-Form College, where he discovered the music of Andres Segovia, Benjamin Verdery
and Stepan Rak.

He has since continued to develop his skills with a range of artists, recently performing at Glastonbury and Buxton Festivals. He has appeared on many recordings, as well as television and radio, and is the author of The Intermediate Plateau for Guitar and Yoga for Musicians. He is currently a lecturer in Performance Studies at Leeds College of Music. He divides his time between Leeds and London.

He and Sophie began playing together as a duo one-two years ago.
